Terry D. Box, M.D.

Terry D. Box, M.D.

Dr. Box received his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. His Internship, Residency, and Gastroenterology Fellowship were completed at the University of Utah. Dr. Box is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. His special interests include diagnosis and treatment of liver disease, Liver Transplantation and Hepatitis Clinical Research. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Utah School of Medicine.

Steven C. Edwards, M.S., P.E.S., L.M.T.

Steven C. Edwards, M.S., P.E.S., L.M.T.

Instrumental in forming the vision for Focus Action since its founding in 1999, he currently manages Physician Connection and Corporate Connection Solutions. Steve is passionate about promoting personal health and well-being, assisting corporations in developing money saving programs that enhance employee health and productivity, and educating physicians and patients groups in disease prevention. With a unique work and educational background in physical and occupational therapy, Structural Integration therapy, and preventative and corrective exercise, Steve takes a specialized approach in addressing postural issues through creating customized programs combining Structural Integration massage, yoga, corrective exercise, and Feldenkrais techniques to balance body structure and focus the mind.

Performance enhancement psychology is an integral focal point in Steve’s work. He discovered early in his career that long-term positive lifestyle changes were only achieved through the right state of mind. This led Steve to a study of psychology and Thought Pattern Management. He found these tools beneficial in enabling clients to alter self-limiting thought patterns, acquire empowering thought processes, and more effectively accomplish goals.

Steve has an M.S. degree from the California University of Pennsylvania in Injury Prevention, Athletic Performance Enhancement and Health Promotion. He is a graduate of Myotherapy College of Massage in Salt Lake City, UT, and has a Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University.

He has numerous certifications in nutrition, fitness/wellness, and complementary health fields including: National Academy of Sports Medicine Performance Enhancement Specialist; International Sports Sciences Association Fitness; National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialist; Reebok Reactive Neuromuscular Training; Myotherapy College Feldenkrais; Reebok Stretch Training; Johnny G Spinning; Human Kinetics Sports Nutrition; Apex Nutrition; Upledger Cranial Sacral Therapy; Therapeutic Bodyworks Structural Integration; Red Cross Water Safety Instructor; Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Utah; and numerous certification programs in yoga.

Active all his life in sports, Steve continues to enjoy basketball, running, strength training, outdoor recreational sports, and has a special passion for yoga. He enjoys creative pursuits and obtained an art talent scholarship from Brigham Young University in 1987. More about Steve »

Michael T. Giovanniello, M.D.

Michael T. Giovanniello, M.D.

Dr. Giovanniello is the co-founder and Fellowship Program Director of The SMART Clinic™. He is a Board Certified specialist in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is fellowship trained in interventional spinal techniques and pain management. He has earned additional board certifications in Electrodiagnostic Medicine and in the subspecialty for Pain Management.

Dr. Giovanniello diagnoses and treats all neuromusculoskeletal disorders with special interests in aggressive non-operative care of back and neck pain, sports medicine, and industrial medicine. He uses the latest techniques including x-ray guided spinal injections, minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery, electrodiagnostics, comprehensive rehabilitation programs for the diagnosis and management of these disorders.

Dr. Giovanniello lectures and publishes locally and nationally on topics in his field. He has co-authored a chapter addressing the use of electrodiagnostic testing for low back pain as well as performed clinical research with x-ray guided spinal injections. Dr. Giovanniello has served as an instructor at multiple national courses for interventional spinal procedures.

Dr. Giovanniello earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University in 1990. During his undergraduate years, he participated in NCAA Division I Cross-Country and Track. Following his studies at Cornell University, he went on to The State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine to earn his medical degree in 1994. After medical school, he did his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Giovanniello was selected Chief Resident for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation during his senior year.

Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Giovanniello was an associate physician for The Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Phoenix, Arizona. Here, he practiced musculoskeletal medicine and served as an on-site industrial medicine physician for Motorola Corporation. Following two years in private practice, he diversified and broadened his practice by completing a fellowship in Interventional Spinal Techniques and Pain Management. After completion of his fellowship, he co-founded The SMART Clinic™ in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2001.

Cherilyn Fish, NASM CPT

Cherilyn Fish, NASM CPT

Cherilyn Fish graduated from Weber State in 1998 with a degree in Sales in Marketing. After many years working with insurance companies and HR, Cherilyn was able to effectively teach employees how to utilize their benefits in a way that was best for the company and employee, promoting healthier living and employee retention and loyalty. After losing her husband to cancer in 2001, her outlook on health changed dramatically. Her passion for fitness, health, and wellness has helped her to make a decision to pursue another degree, this time, in Exercise Science at Utah Valley University. Cherilyn’s passion for health and fitness has inspired her to participate in over 10 half marathons and various other races that support causes such as Huntsman Cancer Institute, Susan G Komen foundation and Relay for Life for the American Cancer Institute in the past two years. Cherilyn has the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s CPT credential.

Eliza Hamilton

Eliza has a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Brigham Young University, completed a ten-month internship in Dietetics, and passed a nationally administered examination by the American Dietetic Association. She has advanced certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian and has completed ongoing professional education requirements.

Eliza teaches nutrition classes to all gender and age populations, including pediatrics, in both clinical and community settings. Eliza has successfully implemented and monitored patient-based program development and improvement, demonstrated proficiency in evidenced-based medical nutrition therapy, and is a proven proactive leader and cooperative team member in client-centered environments.

Roberta L. Hughes

Roberta L. Hughes

Roberta Hughes is a professional image consultant and CEO and President of Avidere, LLC. She is the host of KSL Studio Image & Style television segment, a national speaker and published author on image management topics, and consults with organizations on company uniform styles and employee image policy guides. She is a member of Fashion Group International and the Association of Image Consultants International. Ms. Hughes teaches image management strategies practiced by successful companies and effective leaders of today.

Jamie Jackson, CSCS

Jamie has been involved in the fitness industry for over 10 years. She graduated from the University of Utah in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Fitness Leadership. She is certified as a personal trainer through ACE (American Council on Exercise) and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association). Jamie loves to cheer people on to reach their goals and aspirations because with the right guidance anything is possible! Her motto is: “’The Strength is in You!’ because it really is! Don’t just dream about it--- take ACTION and make that dream a reality! :)”

Melissa Jackson, L.M.T.

Melissa Jackson is a graduate of Myotherapy College of Utah with five years experience practicing as a licensed massage therapist. She has a passion for facilitating healing in those with whom she works. Melissa has observed that each individual has the capacity for self-healing, and that each person has an integrated physical, spiritual and emotional make-up encompassed into a whole, with each part affecting the other in the healing process.

Ms. Jackson has worked in clinical and spa settings, and in the corporate workplace, and has extensive training in multiple massage modalities. She has a particular passion for Thai Yoga massage in which the fully clothed recipient enjoys a whole body experience of stretching and compression techniques that bring freedom and mobility to the body.

Steve Larsen

Steve Larsen is a Registered Representative and financial services provider. His passion in his business is helping people weigh and make sound financial decisions. He is most definitely a people person who genuinely cares about the people he meets with. His hope and desire is to teach and educate others how they can make their money work for them in the most efficient manner possible.

Steve is a Registered Representative for Park Avenue Securities, a nationwide broker/dealer. He is licensed to help individuals and small businesses with a variety of insurance products including life, health, disability, long term care, dental and vision. He is also licensed to assist with fixed and variable annuities, mutual funds, and retirement accounts like 401(k), IRA, Roth, etc.

Steve holds a management position at his firm. His duties include recruiting, training, plan development, and education. Steve received the national 2008 Agency Builder award for his efforts in making young and new agents successful.

Steve has a passion for the outdoors, especially fishing. He has realized his dream of having an Alaskan lodge which he visits regularly. Steve’s wife is Nicole, and he has four children: Erec, Korin, Thomas, and Joshua.

Scott Moore, Yoga Instructor

Scott Moore’s teaching comes from his heart. He has a gift of connecting with students, as he is authentic, open, loving, and generous. He loves to invest his classes with music, poetry, stories, and a sense of humor. He has a command of the subtle art of yoga, and can teach to all skill levels and needs. His classes are diverse: they range from challenging, flowing, and energizing to relaxing, nurturing, and restorative. He honors the ancient traditions of yoga, has studied with many powerful teachers (including D’ana Baptiste, Peter Francyk, Erin Geesaman-Rabke, and master teachers Donna Farhi and Judith Lasater), and still teaches a fun and personable class. He is certified in iRest yoga nidra training by Richard Miller, and he loves to go deeper by introducing students to this profound mind-body healing practice. In addition to yoga, he adores playing with his wife, Celeste, running, writing, and swinging with his jazz band.

Kim Nalder, R.N., B.S. (Lifestyle Management)

Kim has been in the health and wellness industry most of her adult life. She became a gymnastic instructor at the age of 14, choreographing floor exercises for competitive gymnasts. Kim obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Lifestyle Management and later became a Registered Nurse. Her passion is helping people get, and stay healthy. She loves speaking to groups, motivating them to take charge of their health and to live their best life.

Kim has worked as an aerobics instructor, aerobics director, a “Slim for Life” instructor and as an Employee Wellness Specialist in corporate and government settings. Her experience also includes employment as an RN in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care.

Kim enjoys martial arts and is a black belt in Hap Ki-Do. She loves dance and has participated in several professional dancing tours in the U.S. and Japan. Kim also enjoys singing, race walking and spending time with her three children.

Gregory G. Nelson, ChFC, CEBS

Greg Nelson is a chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) from the American College, and a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) from Wharton College of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the International Foundation of employee Benefits Plans (IFEBC), and the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU). Greg helps clients implement employee benefits packages to better meet their business objectives and help control their long term benefits costs.

Mary Pratt, L.M.T., NCBTMB

Mary Pratt is a graduate of Myotherapy College of Utah. She is a member of the American Massage Therapists of America (AMTA) and is certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). Ms. Pratt spent many years working in Corporate America. After being accepted into nursing school, she realized her ultimate dream of entering into the complementary health field of massage therapy. Her areas of expertise include Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral Therapy, Swedish massage, Tuina, and therapeutic Segmental Therapy.

Rebecca Ruud, L.M.T., Certified Rolfer

Rebecca Ruud. L.M.T., Certified Rolfer- Rebecca started her training as a Certified Rolfing Practitioner at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder Colorado. She completed her training in Munich Germany at the European Rolfing Association. She continues to advance her knowledge by enrolling in continuing education courses. Rebecca's approach to Rolfing includes a focus on educating and empowering her clients to understand their own structure and how to develop movement patterns that will nourish it as they move in daily life.

Rebecca began her Rolfing 10 Series after a loved one was in a car accident and wasn't functioning like he needed even with all the treatment he was receiving. He went through the series and Rebecca followed. She herself has had a few car accidents and lived with chronic pain daily. After going through the Rolfing 10 Series, she immediately felt more fluid with her body's movements and free of the aches, pain and stiffness she had previously experienced. Rebecca was convinced that Rolfing was something she wanted to be part of and share with others, knowing she could help improve their quality of life. She has a passion and a love for the work and her clients and she loves to see the change that happens in all areas of their life.

When Rebecca isn't working her hobbies include yoga, hiking, snowshoeing, running, singing and spending as much time as possible with her three wonderful children.
